BAKER COUNTY – Baker County Sheriff Travis Ash completed the swearing-in process for employees of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office earlier this week.  According to the sheriff’s office, during the ceremony, Baker County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Corporals and Deputies were recognized for their role in achieving a perfect score on the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association correctional facility audit process that was concluded in late 2020.

Deputies participated in and supported the implementation and compliance of the Oregon State Sheriffs’ Association voluntary best jail practices in accordance with the Oregon Jail Standards set in 2000.  According to the sheriff’s office, this was no small feat and required dedication and hard work. For their efforts, the Corrections Lieutenant, Corporals and Deputies were presented with the Baker County Sheriff’s Office Challenge Coin. These coins are awarded to Baker County Sheriff’s Office employees or citizens that have demonstrated exemplary performance or for a single heroic act. Prior to this ceremony, three Baker County Sheriff’s Office Challenge Coins have been awarded.
