Shelton sentenced to time served, community custody

WALLA WALLA – Maxwell Shelton, 20, of Prescott has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. He will get credit for time served, so he will spend a year in community custody.

Shelton’s arrest came in May, around the same time his place of employment, Master’s Ranch West, was closed for possible abuse and other violations. The investigation into Shelton’s crime was not linked to the abuse case against the home for troubled boys.

He admitted to sending nude photos of himself to an underage girl. Court records indicate that authorities were alerted to the case when employees at the ranch saw the text on Shelton’s phone. He was originally also charged with third-degree child molestation, but that charge was dropped in exchange for his guilty plea on the lesser charge.

The restitution for the victim has not yet been determined. Shelton also has to pay $500 to the victims assistance fund and $100 for DNA processing. He must register as a sex offender and is not allowed to possess a firearm. Shelton also has to undergo decision-making therapy.
