LONG CREEK – HIGHWAY 395B IS NOW OPEN BETWEEN LONG CREEK AND UKIAH.
UPDATE (9 a.m.): It has been confirmed by officials that the barricades have been removed, and U.S. Highway 395B is open between Long Creek and Ukiah. Travel with caution.
PREVIOUSLY POSTED (7:28 a.m.): According to Grant County Emergency Communications (via ODOT) HIGHWAY 395B IS CLOSED AT MILEPOST 90, NORTH TO MILEPOST 23 AT THE UKIAH JCT.
PREVIOUSLY POSTED: According to ODOT, U.S. Highway 395 B is closed at Long Creek Mountain due to disabled vehicles. The Oregon Department of Transportation is requesting motorists use another route. The road surface is reportedly “a sheet of ice.”
Also, I-84 is closed in both directions between Pendleton and La Grande due to a multiple vehicle crash at milepost 220. Freezing rain is making the road slick. Crews are onsite and tows are enroute. The closure is expected to last several hours. Expect increased truck traffic on our Grant County highways.
It seems like we’ve been jumping from one weather advisory to the next, here lately. The National Weather Service has issued another Winter Weather Advisory, this time for all of Grant County, In effect today (Thursday), until 1 a.m. Friday morning.
Mixed wintry precipitation including freezing rain is expected along a northwest-oriented line in the western portion of the John Day Basin, including Mitchell and Monument. Rain is forecast east towards Dayville and John Day.
Mixed precipitation is expected, with around an inch or more of snow accumulation and ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch.
