MONUMENT – The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for areas near Monument in Grant County, and portions of Morrow County. Find the release below:

Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Pendleton OR 353 PM PDT Fri Apr 7 2023 ORZ503-505-072330- Southern Blue Mountains of Oregon OR-John Day Basin OR- 353 PM PDT Fri Apr 7 2023 ...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northwestern Grant County through 430 PM PDT... At 352 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm capable of producing a landspout 7 miles east of Monument, or 33 miles northwest of John Day, moving northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Landspout possible, winds in excess of 30 mph, and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Ritter and Hamilton. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
