PENDLETON – Randy Severe will be laid to rest tomorrow (Tuesday). He died Nov. 21 at the age of 70. The family will have two viewings. One is this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Burns Mortuary. The other is from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Pendleton Convention Center.
The funeral service will be at the convention center at 11 a.m. Tuesday. A procession will leave the convention center and travel to Olney Cemetery at around noon.
Pendleton Police Chief Chuck Byram wants motorists to be aware traffic will be impacted by the slow-moving procession during the lunch hour. He asks people to plan ahead as traffic will be impacted on Westgate, the viaduct, Southwest 20th Street, Southgate, and Tutuilla Road.
Severe was a master saddler, musician, and former president of the Pendleton Round-Up. He built more than 200 saddles for Round-Up champions alone. Severe would turn his saddlery over to rodeo contestants who couldn’t afford housing in Pendleton during the rodeo. The Hotel de Cowpunch provided a home for them during the four-day rodeo.
