PENDLETON – Alexander Moore, 25, of Irrigon has a murder trial scheduled for June in the shooting death of Shane Alan Shippentower, 34, of Pendleton in August 2023. Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus said a settlement conference will be held, probably in late February.

“Settlement conferences are an opportunity for us to see if there is a potential for a resolution outside of a trial,” Primus said. “What that does is it allows for some finality.”

He said his office looks at settlement conferences as a chance to present their case and anticipate possible problems. Primus added that the conference could result in the prosecution not settling while being better prepared for the trial itself.

Moore is being held on $1 million bail, charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. Shippentower was shot in the 400 block of Northwest 15th Street in Pendleton on Aug. 17, 2023. He died while first responders were attempting to revive him. Moore was arrested two days later.
