SENECA – From Rodeo Princess to award-winning teacher, Rainey Raymond is making waves in her community. Mrs. Raymond, one of two elementary teachers at Seneca Elementary, has been recognized as runner-up for the 2026 Educator of the Year Award by the Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom organization. The announcement weas made at their Fall Harvest Dinner and Auction in Corvallis on October 24th.
Seneca School personnel stated, “If you’ve spent any time around Mrs. Raymond, you know she’s not a teacher who is content to simply open a textbook and teach a lesson. She’s always coming up with something new, something hands-on, or some way to get the kids outside exploring, investigating, and learning. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she’s got a genuine love for connecting children with the world around them.”
Mrs. Anderson attended the event in Corvallis with her husband. She returned to Seneca with new books, curriculum, supplies, and ideas.
Seneca staff said, “Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom is a fantastic organization that helps teachers connect what children learn in school with agriculture, natural resources, and the world right outside their doors. That’s a pretty natural fit for us here in Seneca!
To be recognized statewide, especially in just her second year of teaching, is quite an accomplishment.”
Congratulations to Raney Raymond, the Oregon Agriculture in the Classroom runner-up for the 2026 Educator of the Year Award.
