Senator Merkley discusses child care challenges in Grant County

JOHN DAY – U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently, reflecting on a recent town hall held in Prairie City:
“In the Grant County Town Hall, one of the major issues was the issue of daycare. That’s an issue all over our state; all over the country because COVID dismantled daycare and a lot of people would like to be able to go back to work, but they can’t afford daycare; and a lot of employers need more employees, so, it’s kind of a win-win if we can get more support for that.”
Senator Merkley said he’s thrown his efforts behind Senator Patty Murray’s Child Care for Working Families Act.
