JOHN DAY – Oregon District 30 Senator Lynn Findley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time today. The senator gave listeners an update from the recent legislative short session. He said that he was pleased at the passage of a bill that he introduced:

“There’s one bill that I’m really happy that passed. It was my bill that I sponsored or brought forward—and that’s to allow small community pharmacies that we have in all of rural Oregon the ability to exempt prescription drugs from their CAT tax, their Corporate Activity Tax.

That tax has been a death blow to drug stores because it’s based on their gross revenues, not net, but gross.”

Senator Findley said there’s more work to do in that field, but, “this is the first step, and it’s a good step for small, rural pharmacies.”

At 5:30 p.m. this evening Senator Findley, along with Representatives Mark Owens and Daniel Bonham will hold a virtual town hall for constituents in Senate District 30 and House Districts 59 and 60.
