PENDLETON – A Umatilla County grand jury has indicted a Pendleton man for the attack that saw an adult male stabbed at Blue Mountain Village Apartments on July 20. Damon F. Ornelas, 22, becomes the second man implicated in the case.
Ornelas was already in Umatilla County Jail on a failure to appear warrant as well as two probation violations. He was taken into custody the day after the stabbing on June 21.
He now faces charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and second-degree disorderly conduct. His bail is set at $1,300,000.
When the assault occurred, Pendleton police did locate another suspect and took him into custody. Jacoah Scott, 22, remains charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy, and second-degree criminal mischief. His bail, at last report, was $107,500.
