Second defendant sentenced in 2025 shooting during Round-Up

PENDLETON – A Weston man charged in a shooting in Pendleton during Round-Up festivities has pleaded guilty and been sentenced.
Alan Alejandro Rodriguez, 22, was charged in the September 2025 incident along with Ricardo Lara Ruiz.
On Sept. 12, 2025 members of the Pendleton Police Department went to Cadillac Jack’s Saloon to provide a presence in anticipation of the establishment’s closing for the night. When officers arrived, they observed an altercation in the parking lot of the KFC restaurant across the street. As officers and Cadillac Jack’s security moved to break up the altercation, two gunshots were heard. Officers observed an individual, later identified as Ruiz, holding a handgun and detained him.
After being indicted by a grand jury along with Ruiz, Rodriguez was arrested roughly a week later.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his abdomen and right arm.
Rodriguez pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon, riot, and recklessly endangering. He was sentenced on July 6 to five years of supervised probation. Ruiz was sentenced in February 2026 to more than five years in prison for his role in the shooting.
