Sears Hometown Store damaged by fire

WALLA WALLA – A fire damaged the Sears Hometown Appliance Store at 207 East Main Street Monday night. Firefighters were dispatched to the business at 9:30 p.m. following a report that a staircase was on fire and that someone may be burning cardboard.

When firefighters arrived, they found fire coming from the westside of the large two-story commercial building. The fire was brought under control at 9:43 p.m. Nobody was inside the building and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and estimated property/content losses are $75,000.

The Walla Walla Fire Department was assisted by the College Place Fire Department and Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4.
