KENNEWICK — A 15-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after allegedly threatening to bring a gun to school and harm three classmates, according to the Kennewick Police Department.
A student overheard the threat and reported it to staff, who contacted law enforcement. Officers located the suspect at his home, where they confirmed he lacked access to firearms. He was arrested and booked into the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of felony harassment.
The Kennewick Police Department praised the student who came forward, emphasizing that school safety threats receive an immediate response. Neither police nor the Kennewick School District disclosed which school was targeted in the threat.
