PASCO — A school bus driver has died after being stabbed Friday afternoon at Longfellow Elementary.
During a press conference Friday night, Captain Bill Parramore with the Pasco Police Department said officers arrived shortly after 3 p.m. following reports a bus driver had been stabbed. They found the victim had been assaulted with a knife.
The suspect, who was still at the scene, was taken into custody without incident. The bus driver was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.
Parramore did not provide any further details Friday night regarding the suspect or the victim.
Students were on the bus at the time of the assault. Fortunately, none were injured.
The Pasco School District has counselors available for all students and transportation staff.
The Pasco Police Department said this is an active investigation and will provide more information on Monday.
