HARNEY COUNTY(Released from the Harney County Sheriff’s Office)-Unfortunately, scammers are calling Harney County residents trying to impersonate HCSO Deputies again. The scammer called with “no caller ID,” said the call was being recorded and stated he is Deputy Gabe Flowers, providing his supposed badge number.
Flowers the FAKE claimed the resident was in contempt of court for failing to show for federal jury duty, claiming that the resident signed for the certified notice, even reading back the resident’s address to them.
He then said the resident needed to go the sheriff’s office to sign a signature authorization to compare signatures, provided a case number, and to ask for him, but that bail of $1500 may need to be paid. When the resident said they were walking into the sheriff’s office, the scammer hung up.
What’s interesting about this call is that typically scammers are demanding immediate payment. Thank you for sharing this call so that we can alert others.
