Saunders will do jail time for reduced charge

WALLA WALLA, Washington – A Walla Walla man arrested in April for intentionally striking a pedestrian with his car was sentenced Monday in Walla Walla County Superior Court. Jon Paul Saunders, 34, is to serve a total of 120 days in the Walla Walla County Jail.  Court documents said he will receive credit for 58 days already served.

According to Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Nagle, Saunders pled guilty on June 18 to an amended charge of reckless endangerment.

He was arrested on April 27 after intentionally hitting a man on East Sumach Street behind the Rose Street Safeway. According to the police report, Saunders and the victim have known each other for some time.

Upon his release, Saunders will serve 12 months of probation and must not contact the victim for one year. He must also pay restitution.
