Santa handed out goody bags during Operation Santa

ELGIN, OR – The Elgin Rural Fire Protection District held their Operation Santa Clause Christmas Eve. Instead of going door to door as in the past, Santa passed out goodie bags to the ones that had their porch lights on. According to Fire Chief Kevin Silvernail, this event has been ongoing in some form, over 50-years. Nearly 1,000 bags of goodies were put together from volunteers and their families. The funds that help this annual event come from a wood raffle held every year.
