LA GRANDE – (Information provided by EOU Athletics)The NAIA has announced its Week 10 National Football Players of the Week and for the second time this season, the Mountaineers had a player make the list.
Garnering National Player of the Week accolades was Sage DeLong. He was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week after a record setting performance this past weekend in Eastern Oregon’s home game against Carroll College. He made the national list after earning Frontier Conference ERCK Hotels Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The redshirt senior racked up a single-game EOU record in sacks and tackles for loss at 6.0 and 7.0, respectively. Not only did DeLong set new single game records in two categories but he also moved up the career list with his performance. He now ranks second all-time in program history in both sacks and tackles for loss. He has 24.0 career sacks and 46.5 career tackles for loss.
The Mountaineers will play their final road game of the season this weekend against Interstate-84 rival College of Idaho in Caldwell. Kickoff against the Yotes is set for 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT inside Simplot Stadium.
