Safe Families for Children of Eastern Oregon in Baker County receives Opioid Grant Funding

BAKER COUNTY — (Release from Safe Families for Children of Eastern Oregon) Safe Families for Children of Eastern Oregon (SFFC EO) would like to thank Baker County Board of Commissioners for their approval of our grant application to their Opioid Response Grant.

The grant, labeled “The Rural Renewal Project,” will expand local support for individuals and families impacted by opioid use and those at higher risk of addiction.

This Project will provide services designed to reduce isolation, stabilize families, and offer healthy alternatives before crisis points are reached. It perfectly aligns with the SFFC EO organization’s commitment to addressing substance-use risks through preventative supports like practical education in regard to finances, parenting skills, good rental practices, and relational care, rather than reactive measures alone.

“Our approach focuses on connection and ongoing support” explains Nicole Gardner, SFFC EO Caseworker. “This funding allows us to walk alongside individuals and families with compassion, practical help, and trusted local support, addressing risk factors before addiction takes hold, supporting healing where it’s already needed.”
