BAKER CITY – (Information from the City of Baker City) Baker City would like to remind residents that there are safe options to dispose of unused or unwanted prescription drugs:

  • Green disposal boxes are located at local Safeway, Albertsons and rite-Aid locations (See above).
  • The Baker County Sheriff’s Office will also receive unwanted drugs during their regular business hours Monday through Friday.
  • Special drug take back events may be scheduled by local groups.
  • The Baker County Health Department may also assist in receiving and disposing of prescription drugs. Contact them at 541-523-8211

Further, prescription drugs should never be flushed down toilets or drains. Syringes and needles are considered hazardous waste items and cannot be disposed of via typical take back options. To dispose of syringes, contact the Baker County Health Department or Baker County Sanitary (541-523-2626).
