WALLA WALLA – A runaway tank car took a trip on the rails Tuesday from Walla Walla to Touchet, a distance of about 12 miles.
The tank car apparently broke away from Ferrelgas Walla Walla on the 200 block of Avery Street and rolled westbound just before 1 p.m.
Law enforcement set up a roadblock at McDonald Road and Highway 12 to make sure the tracks were cleared ahead of the tank car.
“It was stopped in Touchet without incident or injuries,” Walla Walla County Undersheriff Joe Klundt said. “The tank car was empty.”
The incident is under investigation.
