Rollover crash in John Day involves injury

JOHN DAY – A rollover crash occurred in John Day on West Main Street Tuesday afternoon. The rollover happened near the intersection of NW Johnson Dr. and U.S. Highway 26 (W. Main St.). Circumstances leading to the crash have not been released. Sheriff Todd McKinley informed our newsroom that the accident did involve injury of unknown severity, and at the time of communication, the occupant or occupants were alive.

Both lanes of U.S. Highway 26 were closed until the crash scene was cleared, and traffic was diverted through the old Oregon Pine mill property belonging to the city. Multiple agencies responded to the crash, including John Day Ambulance, The Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police and John Day Fire Department. We’ll provide more information as it’s released.
