LA GRANDE – Riverside Rebuild, a project to fund and construct a new Riverside Park Playground in La Grande, is continuing its incredible pace of funding as the deadline for necessary grant applications approaches. Beginning fundraising in November 2023, the project now has roughly two-and-a-half to three weeks to meet its $265,000 donation goal.
Currently, the project sits at $197,275 in collected donations, with an additional $19,820 in pledged (but not yet received) funds, pushing the potential total to $217,095. Last week, the project reported a total of $162,525 in collected funds, an increase of $34,750 over the course of roughly a week. With collected funds, the project needs a further $67,725 or, counting pledged funds, an additional $47,905. Once this final amount is raised, La Grande Parks and Recreation will apply for several matching grants to secure the remaining needed funds.
The deadline for these grants, however, is approaching fast. According to Sharron Langdon, a member of the Riverside Rebuild committee, several of the main grants have application deadlines at the end of March 2024. In order to stay on track for a spring 2025 groundbreaking, applications for these grants need to begin by roughly Mid-March. If approved on time, La Grande will have all but secured the needed funds for the new Riverside Park Playground.
