LA GRANDE – Earlier this week, Maggie Mayhem, manager of the Right Track Resource Center (RTRC) in La Grande, announced that the center (which also serves as the La Grande Warming Station) is planning to relocate from its current building at 501 3rd street in La Grande in the future.
This recent announcement follows a different announcement that Eastern Oregon Health & Wellness has received the funding needed to develop a rehabilitation and detox facility in La Grande. While this is a major step forward for local treatment options, this new facility will eventually occupy RTRC’s current building, requiring the center to relocate.
The full announcement from Maggie Mayhem is as follows:
“To Our Amazing RTRC Volunteers!
First and foremost, thank you. Right Track Resource Center would not be what it is today without the time, compassion, energy, and dedication that each of you brings to our mission. Many of you have quite literally put your blood, sweat, and tears into this work.
Whether you’ve volunteered for a few hours or for years, you have played a vital role in creating a welcoming, supportive space for our community members. Your kindness has helped countless individuals take steps toward stability, connection, and hope.
We wanted to share some important news about the future of RTRC and what it means for our organization moving forward.
Recently, Eastern Oregon Health & Wellness (EOHW) received funding to develop a local rehabilitation and detox facility. This is an exciting and much-needed investment in our community. Access to treatment and recovery services close to home will help reduce barriers to care and provide critical support for individuals seeking recovery.
As part of this project, the building that currently houses Right Track Resource Center will eventually transition to support the new facility. While this means RTRC will need to relocate in the future, we are working closely with EOHW and other community partners to plan for this transition and ensure that services continue with as little disruption as possible.
We know that changes like this can bring questions, concerns, and strong emotions. As conversations occur in the community, we want to take a moment to emphasize that RTRC and EOHW share the same goal: improving the health, safety, and well-being of people in Union County. We view EOHW as a valued partner, and we are grateful for the work they do. We ask our volunteers to help us maintain a spirit of collaboration by speaking respectfully about our community partners and avoiding negative comments or speculation. Even when organizations face challenges or changes, we are all working toward the same mission of supporting our neighbors.
This transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for RTRC. While the path ahead will require creativity, flexibility, and determination, we are excited about the opportunities it may create. We remain committed to serving our community, expanding our impact, and finding a sustainable home for the future of our programs.
As always, our volunteers will continue to be at the heart of that work. Your support, advocacy, and belief in our mission give us confidence that RTRC can successfully navigate this transition and emerge stronger than ever.
Thank you for standing with us, supporting our community, and helping us build the next chapter of Right Track Resource Center. We will continue to share updates as plans develop and welcome your questions, ideas, and encouragement along the way.
In Solidarity and With Sincere Gratitude,
Miss Maggie Mayhem”
