RICHLAND, Washington – The Richland Police Department arrested Damyen Juan Cardenas Wednesday night after he allegedly pulled a gun on customers and employees at the Home Depot, 2855 Duportail Street, just after 6 p.m.

Following an argument with family members at a nearby movie theater, Cardenas pointed a gun at a couple in the Home Depot parking lot, then discarded several bullets from the gun’s magazine before entering the business.

Once inside the Home Depot, Cardenas pointed a gun at a female customer and her child before giving the customer the gun. The customer gave the gun to an employee at the customer service desk and police were contacted.

Moments later, Cardenas returned to the customer service desk and recovered the gun, then pointed it at several people. When the gun wouldn’t fire, Cardenas reportedly threw the gun to the ground and exited the Home Depot.

Officers arrived on-scene and located Cardenas near the entrance of the Home Depot, with his hands up. He was taken into custody without further incident. Cardenas faces charges of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.
