PENDLETON โ€“ Ameresco, Inc. and Pendleton city officials invite the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of a major solar canopy project at the cityโ€™s Wastewater Treatment and Resource Recovery Facility. Itโ€™s the first of its kind in the region.

The 240 kW canopy is expected to generate as much as 325,000 kWh of electricity annually, offsetting the plantโ€™s energy use by 30 percent. This project is part of a number of renewable energy and efficiency upgrades designed to reduce both the plantโ€™s carbon footprint and operational costs.

The open house is at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the facility, 4300 S.W. Houtama Road in Pendleton. Parking is available on site.

The multiphase infrastructure improvement initiative was delivered through an Energy Savings Performance Contract with Ameresco. The company provided price and performance guarantees and helped ensure participation from disadvantaged and local businesses.
