PORTLAND – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is seeking information regarding the killing of a federally-listed endangered gray wolf in Morrow County. That county is located west of Highway 395 where wolves are listed as endangered and therefore under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
The agency is offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest, a criminal conviction, or a civil penalty assessment. The male wolf, OR 159, was found dead on private land about 20 miles south of Heppner on Nov. 8.
The service is investigating with the assistance of Oregon State Police. Anyone with any information about the killing is asked to call the Fish and Wildlife Service at 503-682-6131 or OSP Dispatch at 800-452-7888. They can also text TIP@osp.oregon.gov. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
