Resources to deal with smoke and heat for Baker County residents

BAKER CITY – Health officials with Baker County are reminding residents in need of relief from the weather or smoky conditions that resources are available.
The Baker County Health Department has both cold water bottles and N95 masks available to the public for free. Families in need of a home air purifier are asked to reach out to the Baker County Health Department. BCHD officials wrote, “We have a limited number of air purifiers available, so they are being reserved for those with the greatest need. If you or someone in your household has a significant health need and could benefit from an air purifier, please contact us to see if we can help.”
Also, the Baker County Library is open as a cooling center and clean air shelter.
Health officials stress the importance of staying hydrated and checking in on family, friends, and neighbors who may need extra support.
