BAKER CITY – The Baker Early Learning Center (BELC) hosted Representative Mark Owens on a tour this week at the center. Representative Owens and Senator Lynn Findley were instrumental in securing a $1.4 million facilities investment in July that will be used to upgrade the HVAC system, finish moving modulars to the BELC Campus, as well as help complete the playground.
According to the Baker School District, The HVAC system was previously part of the bond projects; and the savings will help us hedge against rising inflation, so that we can still hopefully complete all the projects previously planned for those dollars.Other Baker County projects that were announced as recipients of funds were the Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre-Baker Orpheum Theatre Restoration, Unity Water Tower Replacement, Sumpter Valley Railroad Upgrades.
