BAKER CITY – The City of Baker has shared some helpful reminders for citizens to keep in mind during the wintertime.

Please remember to clear your sidewalk of snow.  Do not shovel or plow snow into the street.

Wintertime means colder temperatures, which can lead to frozen pipes that can burst.  To help prevent frozen pipes, consider letting your faucet drip with temperatures are below zero degrees.  If a pipe is frozen be careful not to heat it up too fast, this can cause the pipe to burst.  If you water is frozen contact the Public Works Department at 541-524-2047 or after hours you can contact Baker Dispatch at 541-523-3644.

Another helpful wintertime reminder that came from one of our local citizens recently was a reminder to help the fire department, by removing snow from around fire hydrants if you have one around your property.
