EASTERN OREGON – In a recent recreation report, ODFW reminds anglers that April 30 is the final day for steelhead season. This impacts fishing on the Grande Ronde, Wenaha, Wallowa and Imnaha rivers along with Catherine Creek and Big Sheep Creek. Other species of trout along with whitefish are still open, with many areas in Oregon having been stocked with trout the week of April 17. Anglers are also reminded that, as of April 19, “wild steelhead and bull trout cannot be harvested and must be released.” For the full list of recent trout stocking details, visit Weekly trout stocking schedule | Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (myodfw.com). Note that trout stocking may be delayed in some locations due to the presence of ice.
