BAKER COUNTY -The Baker County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) is alerting citizens that a popular scam is again being reported.

Below is an alert issued by BCSO

SCAM ALERT

There are reports of a phone scam circulating in Baker County.

Citizens are receiving phone calls from a “BCSO Deputy” and being told that they failed to respond to a jury summons. To prevent a warrant from being issued, they must come to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office and pay a fine.

THIS IS A SCAM.

BCSO deputies or personnel will never call you and demand money in an effort to prevent a warrant from being issued.

Scammers have the ability to make any name or number show up on your caller ID. This is called “spoofing.” If you receive a call from the BCSO business line (541-523-6415) and are concerned that the call is a scam or something doesn’t seem right, please hang up and call the business line directly to reach our dispatch division.

NEVER give out your personal or financial information over the phone.
