EASTERN OREGON – A reminder to all Eastern Oregon hunters, the final deadline to report 2024 hunts is January 31, 2025. Anyone who purchased a 2024 tag with a season ending between April 1st, 2024, and December 1st, 2024, is required to report their hunt. Even if a hunter wasn’t successful or did not get the opportunity to hunt at all, reporting is still required for any 2024 deer, elk, cougar, bear, pronghorn or turkey tags with seasons ending between the mentioned dates.

SportsPac buyers are not required to report on tags that were never issued to them. E taggers are still required to report hunts.

Failure to report by the deadline could result in a $25 dollar penalty. As written by ODFW,

“The penalty is paid with the purchase of a hunting license two years hence. Only a single penalty is assessed, regardless of the number of tags you did not report.”

Keep in mind that, though reporting is required for big game and turkey tags, the penalty only applies when failing to report deer or elk hunts.

Hunters can report online via the ODFW licensing webpage, the MyODFW app, or in person at an ODFW license agent or ODFW office. Hunters will need their Hunter/Angler ID number, and on total number of days hunted (including while mentoring youth). If the hunt area covered more than one wildlife management unit (WMU), hunters will need the two-digit WMU number of the unit hunted in most and the number of days hunted in whichever WMU was hunted in most.

Hunters that no longer have tag or license information when reporting can call ODFW Licensing at 503-947-6101 to receive their Hunter/Angler ID. ODFW Licensing can also be contacted to correct misreported hunts.
