PENDLETON & COLLEGE PLACE – Young Eagles Day on June 2 is happening at Martin Field in College Place, and on June 29 it will be observed at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport in Pendleton. Parents of young people aged 8-17 can learn about aviation from the ground up, including free 15-20 minute flights.
Pilots associated with chapters of the Experimental Aircraft Association volunteer their time to make the events possible. In addition to the free flights, the event will feature flight simulators, static displays, and tours of the control tower.
Although the event is next month, the opportunity to register for it begins today (Wednesday) for either College Place or Pendleton. The organization encourages registering online because the number of participants is limited.
Young Eagles Day was launched in 1992 to help introduce young people to the world of aviation. Since it began, more than 2.3 million youths have participated. For more information and to register, go to https://youngeaglesday.org/.
