MILTON-FREEWATER – With the summer season almost here, the city of Milton-Freewater invites families to start registering Monday for swimming lessons at the Joe Humbert Family Aquatic Center.
The Walla Walla YWCA received another scholarship this year to offer free swimming lessons for up to 100 Milton-Freewater children. Families must live in Milton-Freewater for their children to qualify. All lessons are for children ages 6 months to 12 years and will be taught by Walla Walla YWCA swim instructor certified by the American Red Cross.
The pool opens for the season at 9 a.m. on May 27. Children are encouraged to visit the newly heated pool for a quick swimming skills assessment at their convenience between 9-11 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. This will ensure students are placed in classes at their current skill levels.
Lessons will be offered in sessions, with each session running for two weeks on Monday through Thursday between 10-11:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m.
Each day’s classes last 40 minutes. Registration and more information are available at https://www.wwymca.org/aquatics.
