Regional organizations benefit from Oregon Arts Commission grants

SALEM โ€“ Awards totaling almost $1.4 million are being distributed to 181 Oregon arts organizations through the Oregon Arts Commissionโ€™s operating support program for 2025. The unrestricted awards range from $3,300 to $20,000.

The commission made the awards to nonprofit organizations with budgets of more than $150,000 a year. In Eastern Oregon, a number of groups qualified for the funding.

The Northeast Region saw awards to five organizations. They are Crossroads Creative and Performing Arts Center in Baker City for $4,747; Eastern Oregon Regional Arts Council in La Grande for $5,175; Fishtrap in Enterprise for $6,735; Friends of the Opera House in Elgin for $4,360; and Josephy Center for Arts and Culture in Joseph for $4,409,

Pendleton had three recipients: The Arts Council of Pendleton will receive $8,625 Crows Shadow Institute in Mission receives $5,261, and the Oregon East Symphony is awarded $3,887. Those awards are all for the Greater Eastern โ€“ North Region.

One grant was given to an organization in the Greater Eastern โ€“ South Region. Painted Sky Center for the Arts in Canyon City receives $4,525.

โ€œOperating support is crucial to organizations as these funds can be used at their discretion to sustain artistic programming,โ€ Arts Commission Chair Subashini Ganesan-Forbes said. โ€œGrant recipients (and their peers) also see this grant as a sign of our trust in their vision, capacity, and importance to the Oregon arts ecosystem.โ€
