PENDLETON – A red flag warning is in effect Tuesday for much of the Lower Columbia Basin in Oregon.

The warning area stretches south from the Columbia River to Fossil, and west to east from The Dalles to Pendleton. Affected cities include Milton-Freewater, Hermiston, Heppner and Condon.

“A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can

contribute to extreme fire behavior,” said the National Weather Service in Pendleton.

Wind gusts up to 30 mph are forecast, along with low relative humidity and temperatures in the 90s Tuesday afternoon for much of the area.
