BAKER COUNTY — The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has lifted the recreational use advisory for Brownlee Reservoir in Baker County. The advisory was originally issued on Aug. 8.

The level of cyanotoxins in the reservoir are now below recreational guidelines for people but may still be above levels for dogs. Pets should be kept away from areas that have the appearance of a cyanobacteria bloom.

OHA reminds recreational visitors that they should avoid areas where water is foamy, scummy, thick like paint, pea-green or blue-green, or if thick brownish-red mats are visible, or bright green clumps are suspended in the water. If signs such as that are seen visitors should avoid activities that could cause them to swallow water or droplets, such as swimming or high-speed water activities.
