Recall certified; Chase McClung is Prairie City’s Mayor Pro Tempore

PRAIRIE CITY – In an update on the Prairie City Mayor recall, the recent election was officially certified last week. County Clerk Laurie Cates stated to our news team, “The recall election was certified on October 29th and notice was sent to the Secretary of State and the City of Prairie City that the election was officially certified, and [the] mayor was recalled.”
This means that as of this moment, Ed Clark is no longer the Mayor of Prairie City. In the instance of a recall, the City Council President is automatically appointed the Mayor Pro Tempore—a position held by Chase McClung. McClung will assume the duties of mayor if or until the city council selects another individual, or the next election cycle.
The next meeting for the City Council of Prairie City will be held Wednesday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall.
