JOHN DAY – According to information from Grant County Librarian Chris Ostberg, the library is featuring a new program this month called Reading with Rheanna, where any child under the age of 18 can come into the library for a free book.

Rheanna Cartner took her own life last November, and her mother Tammy (Cartner) Saul, has partnered with the library to have a memorial for Rheanna. She loved to read, and her mother is giving away one free book of their choosing to any child that comes into the library during the month of August.

Ostberg wrote, “Tammy would like to do this every year, so if someone wants to donate, they can donate a book, or money, here at the library.  If there is a specific book that a child wants, the library can take requests.”

Anyone with questions can call the Grant County Library at (541) 575-1992.
