Ramps near Huntington closed into October for construction

HUNTINGTON — ODOT is issuing a “heads-up” to traffic on I-84 between exits 353 and 356 near Huntington. Work is being done on the on-and-off-ramps through the first part of October.

The I-84 eastbound off- and on-ramps at Exit 356 (OR 201/Olds Ferry Interchange) are closed through Oct. 6, 2026. Crews will pave and complete other safety improvements as part of the I-84 highway improvement project between Huntington and Ontario.
Travelers should watch for advance warning signs and follow posted detours rather than GPS instructions.
Other impacts
All I-84 traffic has been shifted to the westbound lanes between Exit 353 and Exit 356. This temporary configuration allows crews to complete paving and other work on the eastbound lanes.
Travelers should expect shoulder closures in both directions between mileposts 352 and 356, and between mileposts 359 and 361 while crews continue paving and median work.
The speed limit has been reduced to 50 mph between Exit 353 and Exit 356. Drivers should remain alert for new traffic patterns and increased roadside activity.

About the project
We are repaving 16 miles of I-84, both eastbound and westbound, and rebuilding the road connections near the Olds Ferry Interchange at milepost 356.
This work will extend the life of the highway, reduce maintenance needs, and improve safety for all travelers.
This is a two-year project with a scheduled completion in October 2027.
