Rally for Medical Freedom draws large crowd in La Grande

LA GRANDE – Since the announcement from Governor Kate Brown that the COVID vaccine will be mandated for certain groups, including health care workers, school personnel, state workers, and more, there have been comments opposing the mandate as well as supporting the mandate on our Elkhorn Media Group Facebook page.

A couple of comments in favor of the mandates include:

“…The vaccines actually are providing some protection against the delta variant. There are ongoing studies all showing the same thing, it’s preventing severe disease. …

“…Seems cut and dry to me. Take a shot: team humans. Refuse a shot: team coronavirus.
“About time ”

A couple of comments opposed to the mandates include:

“…it’s against our constitutional rights”

This past Saturday, a large crowd gathered outside La Grande City Hall standing up for Medical Freedoms.
Those who attended carried American Flags, Blue Line Flags, as well as a variety of signs reading, “My Body My Choice”, “We Do Mandate in Medicine”, “Freedom to Choose”, “Freedom Not Force”, and more.

The crowd included nurses, doctors, law enforcement, teachers, and others from the local community. The overall message for this rally was that the choice of whether to get the COVID vaccine should be a choice for each person, not something that the government mandates.

One of the many speakers at the rally was a teacher concerned with getting the vaccine or losing his job. Noting he would rather make the decisions for himself and his family rather than having the government make that decision for him.

No word at this time as to any future rallies in opposition to these mandates or any in favor of these mandates.
