Pursuit ends with fatality

PASCO – A Pasco man being pursued by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on Highway 395 was injured when his vehicle drove into oncoming traffic near Foster Wells Road, striking a semi Sunday afternoon. The passenger in his vehicle, Carlie Moore, 23, of Pasco, was killed in the crash.
Ricky Cruz, 28, of Pasco was transported to a hospital, while Moore was pronounced deceased at the scene. Washington State Patrol reports neither of them were wearing seatbelts.
The truck driver was not injured in the crash. He is identified as Harold Matuterivera, 40, of Milton-Freewater. At last check, no reason had been given as to why the sheriff’s vehicle was pursuing Cruz.
