Pursuit ends in driver crashing near Umatilla

UMATILLA – Multiple agencies were involved in a pursuit along US-395 through Hermiston and Stanfield on Saturday that ultimately ended in Umatilla.

Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston says his department responded to a hit-and-run, and the driver fled toward Stanfield. Stanfield police spotted the vehicle, which then turned around and headed back toward Hermiston. The vehicle then went back through Hermiston, before crashing at the intersection of US 395 and US 730.

A video taken by a witness showed multiple law enforcement and EMS agencies stationed on the road entering the McNary Dam site, and a car that had appeared to go off the road.

Jose Enrique Cota Domingo was booked into the Umatilla County Jail Saturday at 8:28 p.m. with Umatilla County Sheriff as the arresting agency. His charges include attempt to elude/flee, reckless driving, hit and run, DUI and criminal mischief, but it has not been confirmed by law enforcement that he was the person involved with this incident.

Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the pursuit.
