PENDLETON – Police are still working to identify the person who smashed into the parklet in the 400 block of South Main Street late last week. Chief Chuck Byram asks for the public’s help in identifying the hit and run driver.

“A red Dodge Ram truck, unknown plate, significantly damaged the parklet and then left the scene,” Byram said. “Luckily, there was nobody using it at that time.”

Byram also wants the public to be aware that the parklets can present a safety issue.

“Those parklets are a great asset and allow people to dine outside, but we also have to be mindful that they can also present a danger to those people as well.”

Byram asked anyone with information about the incident to call Umatilla County Dispatch at 541-966-3651 or the office line for the Pendleton Police Department at 541-276-4411.
