PENDLETON – As the 2021 street repair season winds down, the Pendleton Public Works Department is turning its attention to 2022. Director Bob Patterson said that $1.4 million has been set aside for more overlay, crack seal, and slurry seal projects. There will also be a considerable amount of work coming inside the urban renewal district.
“We have $4.5 million, roughly, left to spend in the urban renewal district on street reconstruction,” he said. “Our current list is on the website. We have not posted the 2022 list.”
He said one street and its connectors are among those in the spotlight for next year.
“We’re basically focused on Southeast Byers looking at Main Street all the way down to Southeast Seventh,” he said. “We’re focused on another portion of Southeast Byers from the east end of Washington School to Southeast 17th, and then we’ve got Southeast 15th off of Byers to Alexander.”
Patterson stressed that those are only a few of the projects envisioned for the next construction season.
