Grant School District No.3 401 N Canyon Blvd. Canyon City, OR 97820-611 PRESS RELEASE Mary Pruitt Crystal Apple Nominee-Grant County Grant School District 3 is proud to announce the nomination of Mary Pruitt for the Grant County Crystal Apple Award for the 2023/2024 School Year, presented by: Superintendent Robert Waltenburg, Grant County Educational Service District, AND a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by: Kay Davis, AmeriCorps Seniors Coordinator - Community Counseling Solutions! The Grant County Crystal Apple Award is synonymous with the Educator of the Year in Grant County. Grant County ESD Superintendent Robert Waltenburg stated, “We want to express our utmost admiration for the outstanding qualifications and the remarkable impact you have had on the children you serve. Your commitment to your students, their families, and the school community is commendable!” Principal Janine Attlesperger stated, “Grandma Mary is dedicated to instilling a love of reading in the students she works with at Humbolt Elementary School. She comes to school every day to serve as a positive role model in our school community. She has made a lasting difference in the lives of our students by sharing her passion for service and for always doing one's best." Here are more sentiments of appreciation for Mary from Humbolt Elementary School teachers: “Mary facilitates 1st-3rd grade reading groups and instills a love for reading.” “Mary donates hours of her time DAILY to Humbolt staff and students.” “Mary helps students with math.” “Mary motivates students to be their best selves and to persevere.” Mary helps classes obtain needed supplies (most recently, she found our class pets a new habitat, searching ALL over town for an affordable enclosure.
