LA GRANDE – The City of La Grande will be hosting a virtual public meeting February 17th, beginning at 6:00 pm, discussing housing options.

In 2019, the City of La Grande completed a housing study (aka Housing Needs Analysis) that forecasted the City’s housing needs over the next 20 years for low, middle and upper income housing, for both rental and home ownership.  The purpose of this public meeting is to invite community members of La Grande to engage in discussions and share their ideas on the possible actions the City could take to create opportunities for more housing developments in our community.  This is a State funded effort and the City has hired a consultant to facilitate this public meeting.  It will begin with a presentation and initial recommendations (or ideas) drafted by the consultants and City staff, which the City will ask for public feedback.  Some of the ideas to create housing opportunities may include changing the zoning of some areas in the community, creating new financial incentives to encourage new construction, and establishing public-private partnerships with housing developers.
