HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council is holding a public hearing on an appeal of a conditional use permit issued by the Hermiston Planning Commission to the Hermiston School District. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. today (Monday) at the Hermiston Community Center.
The school district is asking the council to overturn two of the conditions set by the commission for the construction of the annex for Hermiston High School. The district contends that one condition which is related to transportation improvements lacks clarity. It says the other condition regarding parking improvements is also not clear and is unnecessary given the current parking addition at the softball field.
Also on the agenda are amendments to existing ordinances that would establish parade permits and establish rules for bicycle operation. The council will also vote on a change to the city’s solid waste franchise, due to the sale of Sanitary Services to Waste Connections of Oregon.
There are seats available at the meeting for those wearing face coverings. It is also streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel.
