UNION, OR – The City of Union held a public hearing during their council meeting Monday night discussing a block grant for a water backup and telemetry upgrade. Members of the council gave the go ahead to apply for the Community Development Block Grant for up to 2.3 million dollars. It is estimated that the proposed project will benefit at least 2,150 persons, of whom 51.5% will be low or moderate income. The main objective is to continue to supply water to the citizens of Union, in the event of a long extensive power outage and also the upgrade would increase water capacity to the City of Union.
